Pea Ibis Seeds Average Seeds 200 Pea Ibis Seeds Average Seeds 200

An impressive new semi-leafless type (these plants are semi-self-supporting and are less prone to fungal diseases as with reduced leaf area i.e there is more air movement through the plants). Ideal for maincrop or late sowings because of its resistance to powdery and downy mildew, Ibis produces flavoursome peas for fresh use or freezing. Maincrop/late variety for spring sowing.TOBY'S TIP: For the best tasting peas, pick in the evening before the seeds are fully round and cook within an hour - that's if the children do not eat them all raw! For Pea Salad Sprouts, grow in a seed tray on a windowsill. Harvest by cutting when the young plants are some 15cm (6") tall. From trials, we recommend using Onward seed for the best taste. For conventional crops, dig the ground, ideally incorporating plenty of well rotted garden compost, preferably in autumn or winter. Sow outdoors 5cm (2") deep, approx. 20 seeds per 30cm (12"), in flat drills 15-20cm (6-8") wide, with 60-90cm (2-3') between rows. HEALTH BENEFITS: A good source of vitamins and folic acid. Mangetout types are a good source of vitamins A & C as the pod is eaten in addition to the seeds and are high in potassium. Peas also contain soluble fibre useful in removing harmful cholesterol. Eat raw or steam gently to retain nutrient values. As soon as pods are harvested, sugars begin conversion to starch, so eat soon after picking.
